Writer/Director: Craig Johnson
Craig Johnson is an accomplished writer, director and actor in both film and theater.
He is the co-writer of the feature scripts THE SKELETON TWINS, a 2007 Sundance Writer’s Lab finalist and PORN STAR, currently in development with Escape Artists (THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, THE WEATHER MAN). Both scripts he co-wrote with Mark Heyman, the current Director of Development for Protozoa Pictures (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, PI, THE FOUNTAIN).
Craig has written and directed four short films that have received festival play and include SHE, VIVIVAN CAMPBELL’S DAYDREAM—1964, the documentary THE TRACHTENBURG FAMILY EASTER SPECIAL and MAUI, in which he also starred. He is currently finishing his masters at New York University’s prestigious graduate film program where he was awarded a Graduate Assistantship in Editing his final year. He has worked as an editor on numerous short films, commercials and industrials and also teaches editing and acting in New York.
Prior to moving to New York in 2002, Craig worked as a writer, director and actor on over 15 produced projects in the Seattle theater scene, including work at The Empty Space, Open Circle Theater, EXITheatre, The Vancouver Comedy Festival, and The Bumbershoot Arts Festival. He was a member of the popular Seattle sketch comedy group Kazoo and developed and wrote 6 interactive science shows for The Pacific Science Center. He holds a BA in Theater from The University of Washington.
He also played Macbeth at age 10. He is the only Macbeth with braces on record.
